A True Method of Family Planning
The Creighton Model can be used in two ways, to avoid or to achieve pregnancy and is highly effective in both aspects.
Avoiding a Pregnancy:
Numerous studies have concluded that the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System is 99.5% effective to avoid a pregnancy. This is comparable to hormonal contraceptives such as the Pill, the Patch, etc. and superior to the current birth control devices such as the condom.
The continuation rate for women and couples after one year of use is also higher than hormonal contraceptives and devices on the market with the Creighton Model having an 89% continuation rate after one year. This means overall, couples using FertilityCare™ were more satisfied with their family planning then those couples using other contraceptive methods.
Achieving a Pregnancy:
While contraceptive methods can only be used to avoid pregnancy, the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System has the advantage of being effective in achieving a pregnancy. For couples of normal fertility, a research study revealed that 75% will achieve a pregnancy by the first cycle of using the designated fertile days for intercourse. About 98% will achieve a pregnancy by the sixth cycle. For couples with diagnosed infertility, a research study found that 20-40% of couples would achieve a pregnancy by just charting the Creighton Model and using the designated fertile days for intercourse. Up to 80% of couples were successful in achieving a pregnancy with the help of cooperative medical treatment, NaProTechnology.
Safe and Healthy – No Side Effects
The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System treats a fertility as a normal and healthy process of the woman’s body. It totally eliminates the use of synthetic hormones found in hormonal contraceptives and chemicals, mechanical devices and surgical procedures. In doing this, it also eliminates all the common minor and/or major physical side effects associated with all contraceptive methods. Also, the use of the Creighton Model allows the woman to be more aware and in tune with her body and the physical changes during her menstrual cycle. She in turn is often able to detect common abnormalities such as vaginal infections, bladder infections, unusual bleeding, et. very early and can seek medical attention to get treatment before they become more serious.
Versatile – No Regular Cycles Needed
Women have different length menstrual cycles, from short, regular or long. Sometimes cycles can stop altogether due to stress or illness, or naturally because of breastfeeding. Some women may experience irregular cycles as commonplace and as they approach menopause. Previous natural methods, such as the rhythm method, could not help women in these situations.
The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System identifies fertility and infertility on a day to day basis of the observation and tracking of the presence or absence of the cervical mucus observation. There is no guesswork and no forecasting. This makes the Creighton Model versatile and available to all women, regardless of the type of cycle they are experiencing. On any given day, a woman will know whether she is fertile or infertile.
Easy to Learn
The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System is very simple and easy to learn. The follow-ups with a trained FertilityCare™ Practitioner provide a professional and personalized environment for a woman or couple to learn and quickly gain confidence in the System. The Creighton Model is not designed to be learned second-hand from a friend or relative, on your own from a book, or from information on this website.
The ongoing cost, even co-pays, for prescription contraceptive refills and over the counter devices, can add up. While there is a fee for learning the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System, it is comparatively much lower than the ongoing costs of other contraceptive methods. The ongoing use of the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System after one year of instruction is less than a co-pay for most prescriptions medications.
The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System does not conflict with the nature and meaning of human sexuality and marriage. There is no religious doctrine that morally objects to the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System as a means to avoid pregnancy. The ability to determine family size is left to the couple.
Shared Family Planning Responsibility
One of the drawbacks of using contraceptive methods of family planning is that the responsibility for method use is placed on one person, usually the woman. The negative side effects and health risks from most contraceptive methods seem to also fall on the woman.
The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System is designed to be shared between the couple. Couples are encouraged to attend follow-ups together so both the man and woman understand their individual and combined fertility and how it relates to their decision to avoid or achieve pregnancy. Particularly for men, the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System is a breakthrough in allowing them to have a rightful share in the area of sexual responsibility. It is recommended that the man assist with the charting so that he is made aware of the days of fertility and infertility. The woman observes, the man supports her, but the couple is the one who uses the System.
Enhances Sexuality and Promotes Marital Bonding
The Creighton Model FertilityCare System offers a wholistic approach to human sexuality. Through what is called SPICE instruction, a couple learns to appreciate each other in ways other than sexual intercourse. SPICE is an acronym for Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Creative/Communicative, and Emotional and represents all aspects of a person’s sexuality. The couple learns new ways to express these aspects of their sexuality to one another through communication, openness and trust and therefore build true intimacy that strengthens their bond and makes their sexual union all the more enjoyable and powerful. The couple begins to embrace the way they were created by working with their fertility instead of trying to suppress it.
Because of the shared responsibility and enhanced sexuality that couples experience while using the Creighton Model FertlityCare™ System, marriages are strengthened. In fact, one research study found that those couples who used a natural method to plan their families had a 2.2% divorce rate compared to the 50-75% divorce rate of the general population. Some have called it “marriage insurance.”
